JV Raghavulu needs no introduction to the Telugu music lovers. He started off his film career as an assistant to Ghantasala gAru and he was a mAnasa putruDu to Ghantasala (like what Puhalendi was to KV Mahadevan). He got introduced as a full-fledged music director with D Rama Naidu's drOhi (1970) movie, but got recognized with Sobhan Babu's jeevana tarangAlu (1973) movie, again produced by D Rama Naidu. He gave some memorable melodious songs during the 70's and 80's and scored music for 172 movies in total. D Ramanaidu was very kind to him from the beginning of his career and a few people like Dasari Narayana Rao, Krishnam Raju and Kodi Rama Krishsna encouraged him until the mid 80's. Gradually he slipped into oblivion and starting from the early 90's, he has been ignored by the Telugu film industry. Today he is 78 and is suffering from such health problems as heart ailment, diabetes etc and his bad financial situation puts him in a situation where he can not even pay for his medical and phone bills. It is very sad to see such a good Telugu music director in the current situation and we, at ChimataMusic.com, have decided to raise some donations to render him some financial help (in particular, for his medical expenses).
